Vancouver Spaces

We finally managed to get off the rock and paddle across the pond to Vancouver. People recommended a number of places to visit, and we stumbled on a few surprises.

The Wicked Cafe was an eye-pleaser. Personally, the short latte I ordered lacked body and flavour. I did not drink it. At least it was not sour or bitter. I am sure that they must do better.. we were just starting out and I feared an overload so I did not ask for another attempt.

The Arbutus Cafe was an “accidental” find and we enjoyed the atmosphere here very much. It smelled good too – very important!

Unfortunately, we did not have the ability to eat and/or drink everywhere we stopped so I cannot pass any reaction on for the Arbutus.

Finch’s, near Gastown, was a definite pleasure to find. Lovely looking food, a buzz in the air, great interior with tin ceilings, home-style equipment.

A Lebanese restaurant nearby beckoned but we couldn’t eat more…

Prado in Commercial. Cool, appealing. Bandidas Taqueria further south on Commercail is well worth the time to visit and enjoy the food.

We went with friends to Rangoli (Vij’s offshoot) and experienced a truly delightful meal.

JJ Bean on Main – consistently good coffee.

The Wilder Snail and The Union Market in the Strathcona area off Keefer East – both worth a visit.

Since you have 2 locations. Is a 3rd location on it way? Maybe to Vancouver? =)
Didn’t know you had 2 locations on cook street. I only went to one by fort.

We are not a well-oiled machine and every step like this is difficult for us. Our operational style is still very “mom-and-pop”.
So, Vancouver is barely a notion – there are so many spots that beckon us here, in our home city. Still, you never know when a neighbourhood may be so appealing that we…

I think there should be a Bubby’s in the heart of downtown…like right beside my office..there is a vacant spot open….
