Article: Bubby Roses's Bakery: Too Tired to Write

Too Tired to Write

Bubby Roses Owner Partner Mark Engels
An old line… it’ll have to do.

I love baking with a passion. However, being OCD and trying to run a business at the same time as focusing on six ovens and their timers is tiring on a regular basis. I am “hands-on” 3 – 5 times a week over the last three months and I am… tired. (I said that already, eh)?

Anyway, now we frequently serve up Authentic Key Lime Pie, Coconut Cream Pie (sometimes with banana and/or chocolate), Shaker Lemon Pie (Bubby-style with vanilla bean scenting) and our rendition of a New York Cheesecake. The Anise & Walnut Biscotti have also been a hit.

I wanted to post a note here that I put up in the bakeries but I cannot figure out how. (Colin, I need help)! Work awaits me at 5:30 tomorrow morning. I simply had to say hello to you all out there.

Thanks for the feedback, and your patience, on the the site. I WILL succeed and get some more photos up one day. Podcasts are even a dream of mine…

The people watching at BR-2 is priceless – I was sampling one of your awesome apple turnovers and 2 double-shots of espresso – while sitting at one of the outdoor windows seats – there were 2 20-something girls having coffee at one of the “other side of the sidewalk” tables – one of the gals was wearing these silly low-rise blue jeans and half of her buttocks were showing – at some point she stood up to pull up her pants and about 5 people at adjacent tables burst into laughter – including (ahem) A. and I. It was so surreal. I dunno. Girls are cute and all – but their butts bared at bubbies is a little too funny.
