Article: Bubby Roses's Bakery: Bakers

Bakers

Bakers are an interesting lot. They strive to provide us with “the staff of life”. Many still work through the night while most continue to begin their day very early in the morning.

Each one comes to us with different experience(s) and skills. Hand sizes vary and shape bread unique to the individual. Eyes note oddities in ways defined by the individual character of the beholder.

Handmade bread is a wonder to consider and partake in. From the crust to the texture of the interior, there is a multiple of senses involved in the experience. We relish in the scent, the crispness the exterior, the “crumb” and “chew” of the body. Plain, buttered, jam or not, toasted or dipped, bread is a comfort food above all others.

The Lay of the Cinnamon Rolls

Bubby Rose’s Bakery has had the pleasure of working with a number of bread bakers over the years. Some have been great professionals while others have barely been able to do the job, struggling to learn on the fly.

Jenny Rode has recently joined the team at Bubby’s and here are a couple of examples of her fine work.

…and a close-up of the fine textural quality of the French baguette (You would have to eat the Sourdough baguette to “know” that bread)!
